Courthouse
Infrastructure
$10
million was allocated in this year's budget for strategic land acquisition so the Beenleigh courthouse can
be replaced in the future. I am seeking an update on where the new government intends to move the courthouse to, & what they plan to do
with the current site. This project will have real impacts for the future of Beenleigh, so I will fight to make sure there is appropriate
community consultation.

Holmview State School
The new state primary school for Holmview has finally received the necessary ministerial approvals. Although tenders for construction are
still not finalised the Minister assures me that the school will be ready for opening in Term 1 2027.
Since the site for the school was selected, I have been working with Logan City Council & the Education Department to ensure that the
Wuraga Rd/Teys Rd/Prangley Rd intersection is upgraded & delivered along with the school. These road upgrades have been made a
requirement of development approval.
Thank you to all our local residents who supported this important intersection upgrade. Sign up to project updates here: Holmview

Beenleigh
Emergency Services Hub
Funding to deliver the new Ambulance Station in York Street survived LNP budget cuts, but we are waiting to see the project timeline for
delivery. Unfortunately, our hardworking police have not been so lucky. Despite the QPS purchasing the York Street property last year, there
are no funds allocated in this year’s budget to relocate & upgrade the facility.

Bannockburn
Road Intersection
The Department of Transport & Main Roads (TMR) have completed pedestrian safety improvements at the Bannockburn Road intersection. An
options study was funded & completed last year to look at intersection upgrades. The current government has not released the result of
the study. I will continue to push for the full upgrade of the intersection.

Beenleigh - Redland Bay Road
Construction has almost finished on the new active transport path along Beenleigh-Redland Bay Road. Stage 1: Included
the installation of an active transport path from Carbrook State School to the Mount Cotton Road intersection. Locals will
notice that the path is still not connected to Mount Cotton Road intersection. The current government has provided no timeline
to finish this connection.

Beenleigh Special School
In budget week the government announced a new Beenleigh Special School. Our local Special School is one of the fastest growing in the state,
which is why I have previously delivered $18.8m for infrastructure upgrades. So far, the new government
has been silent on where in Beenleigh this school will be built or what the impact will be on the current school. It has been scheduled for a
2028 opening date. I will be working hard with locals & impacted families to ensure this project is properly planned & that they are
properly consulted.

heated pool, expanded children’s play area, shaded seating areas, multi-purpose rooms, modern changeroom facilities, kiosk, accessible
features including ramps & hoists, & a new carpark. The new outdoor pool is expected to be opened late 2025.

A message from Melissa
This year Macalister family budgets are going to be a little bit tougher under the new State Government. There are no energy bill
rebates this year & on top of that car rego is rising. Disappointingly, the new government did not commit to improved health services
locally & the Beenleigh satellite hospital will not happen. I will keep fighting to ensure there are no cuts to the Logan Hospital
expansion project & that the Coomera Hosptial is delivered.
On a personal note, I would like to thank the Macalister community for your overwhelming support while I received treatment for my recent
brain tumour diagnosis. My recovery is going well, & I am in the process of a staged return to work. During this time, I have kept up to
date with what is happening in Macalister, & I will always fight for our community.
